Studying the developing brain, rooted in experience
Studying the developing brain, rooted in experience
Welcome to the Sandre Lab!
Our lab is directed by Dr. Aislinn Sandre and based in the Psychology Department at Western University.
What do we do?
At the Sandre Lab, we study how people perceive and respond to emotions across the lifespan, from the very beginning of life through adulthood. To study these processes, we primarily use EEG (electroencephalography) to measure how the brain processes emotions.
We’re especially interested in how family and environmental experiences contribute to differences in emotion processing, and how these differences can sometimes increase the risk for mental health challenges.
We also study how positive changes—like reducing stress or supporting parents’ well-being—can influence emotion processing and promote mental health.
The ultimate goal of our work is to support healthy emotional and brain development across the lifespan.
